Versaly to distribute the most popular album cover of all time
Versaly teams with Roger Dean to distribute famous artwork to mobile phones
Seattle, WA — August 6, 2002 — Versaly Games, Inc., a wireless application service provider focused on delivering broad-based entertainment to mobile phones, today announces it has signed an agreement with Roger Dean, the artist who created the logo and album covers for the band "Yes," to distribute his famous artwork for use as mobile phone backgrounds, image themes, screensavers and other mobile entertainment. His existing collection of digital image artwork will be distributed as-is and also Roger himself will animate his artwork to be used for animated ringtones and animated screensavers on mobile phones.
Roger created the painting "Tales From Topographic Oceans" for the band Yes and that album cover was voted number one, by an overwhelming margin, in Rolling Stone Magazine’s fifty best album covers of all time. "Tales From Topographic Oceans" will be the first in a series of paintings animated for this program with Versaly and is expected to be one of the most popular screensavers by fans of Roger Dean.
According to Roger, "I think this is a neat project and I’m really excited to be working with Versaly creating animated versions of my paintings. The possibility of maybe millions of people seeing my work in this new medium is also pretty wonderful".
